about

The first single after the debut EP in September, and the duo's forming during quarantine in May, demonstrates a unique collaboration style, as this song was created remotely. Ben recorded all instruments from his dorm room at college in VT, two states from Liza, who sang in an old church. The tone of the song reflects the season, featuring drums drowned in reverb that give way to moody organs, surprisingly funky bass, a pixie dust synth, and Liza's enchanting lyrics centering on a good witch.

lyrics

Red garnet round her neck
And draped in black velvet
She has come to send
You a talisman
Underneath your bed
Is where you’ll find it

Smudge sticks and amethyst
And black onyx
Are placed inside a tin
For your protection

Just around the bend
The moon is waxing
A purple potion
In her cauldron

With cloves and cinnamon
Chamomile and mint
Lavender iris
Sage and frankincense
Overgrown catnip
For her feline friend
